Top 9 Valentine’s Day Date Ideas In Victoria

Posted by on

It’s okay to admit that 2020 wasn’t a great year for romance for many of us — but that doesn’t mean you can’t start 2021 off by visiting one of the most romantic destinations in Canada this Valentine’s (or bookmark this for ideas for a special 2022)!

Here at Salish we often get couples from across BC travelling to our idyllic RV haven to make the most of all Victoria has to offer, and to spend some quality time together.

For those people, and anyone else planning Valentines In Victoria, here are our top suggestions for romantic dates in Victoria.

Blissful Bike Trails heart in maple leaf

Like all great romantic cities, a big part of Victoria’s appeal lies in its scenery, and there’s no better way to explore this than through one of its many fantastic bike trails. The Galloping Goose Trail is one of the most popular around, serving not only as a functional commuter trail, but goes into the beautiful countryside.

If you and your partner both enjoy cycling, then why not take to the forests and head out for a romantic journey where you can both get away from it all in peace.

Stargazing Stroll

Thanks to the minimal light pollution, Victoria is an amazing place for a bit of stargazing — and there’s nothing more romantic than a moonlit walk beneath the stars! In some areas of the city it gets quite dark so you can see the stunning sky. We even have a working Victoria Observatory in Saanich.

With plenty of scenic backdrops you’ll be spoilt for choice, but for us, nothing can top a waterfront stroll with ocean views and a starry sky. So, after a long day, wander to Ogden Point and enjoy a romantic walk along the breakwater path (weather dependent) where you can look out on the waves from one of Victoria’s most iconic spots.

Beacon Hill Park

You don’t have to wander far from downtown Victoria to find your very own romantic paradise. Perfect for a gentle walk, or even an afternoon grazing in the glorious spring weather, Beacon Hill Park has some of the most spectacular sights in Victoria.

With a wonderfully diverse ecosystem showcasing ponds, blooming flowers, and much more — it’s hard to think of a more romantic setting!

A Day Out At Fisherman’s Wharf

Fisherman's Wharf in Victoria -colourful buildings on the waterNestled in Victoria’s famed inner harbour, Fisherman’s Wharf is one of those romantic settings that feels straight out of a painting. Replete with vividly decorated floating houses and a gentle sea breeze, there’s no better spot for a romantic stroll.

After you’ve worked up an appetite, you can enjoy a meal at one of the Wharf’s many fantastic restaurants, such as the Aura Waterfront Restaurant & Patio with its eclectic fusion small plates menu and waterfront views.

Turn Back The Clock With A Carriage Tour

It’s hard to think of a more romantic idea than a horse-drawn carriage — and Victoria has a number of options for taking an old-fashioned romantic trip through this wonderful city.

Drink in all the sights that downtown has to offer, all at a gentle pace. And with a luxury seat inside a genuine horse-drawn carriage, truly like something out of a Victorian romance!

Kick Back With A Glass, Or Two! Wine glass

Just a brief trip north of Victoria is the glorious Cowichan Valley, home to one of Vancouver Island’s best kept, and most delicious secrets: our wine! That’s right, the Cowichan Valley is home to some of the Pacific Northwest’s finest wineries.

With this luxury chauffeur-driven wine tour, you’ll be able to soak in the best they have to offer, accompanied by gourmet lunches, and a backdrop of glistening inlets and towering cedar trees.

Sit Back And Relax

Sometimes the best romantic treat is to simply spoil yourselves and be pampered in the lap of luxury, and if that’s what you’re looking for then Victoria has no shortage of superb spa getaways and packages for you to choose from.

In fact, you don’t have to leave the heart of the city to find a luxurious spa treatment, with the Willow Stream Spa offering an acclaimed menu of natural treatments that have seen it earn awards from across the world.

Alternatively, just a short trip from Victoria’s inner harbour is the Boathouse Spa with its oceanfront views and invigorating spa treatment packages.

Yellow butterflyTravel To Another World

The best romantic dates require that touch of magic, and you’ll certainly be able to find that at the Victoria Butterfly Gardens. Transport yourself to another tropical realm all without ever leaving Victoria, taking in the exotic sights of tropical wildlife and plants, and of course, a spectacular array of hundreds of species of butterflies.

Tea At The Empress

We’re capping off our roundup with a romantic date truly worth getting dressed up for in the form of afternoon tea at the famed Fairmont Empress Hotel.

With over 21 sumptuous loose leaf teas to choose from, as well as more delicious freshly prepared pastries, made with the finest locally sourced ingredients, than two people could possibly eat, this is truly a date fit for royalty!
