New Cycling Lanes and New Regulations

Posted by on

We always like to keep our customers up to date with the latest happenings in and around Victoria — especially if it’s going to affect their motorhome vacations! And we have two updates this August when it comes to some new regulations and exciting new opportunities for cycling around Victoria.

Rules For Recreational Trailers

There have been reports of BC residents being caught on their travels by some new regulations that have flown under the radar, concerning the ICBC safety requirements for fully-loaded recreational trailers. If the total weight (that’s the combined weight of the trailer and the load it’s carrying) is above 4,600 kilograms, then you could need to upgrade your license.

If it’s below the threshold then a regular license should still suffice. This upgrade will involve you being required to pass both a road test and a knowledge-based theory test. Take note that this applies to recreational trailers only, and not recreational vehicles

New Cycling Lanes

In more exciting news, Victoria has recently seen new bike lanes open up across the Wharf-Humboldt corridor! Including a protected lane on Wharf Street from Pandora to Fort. As the project continues there will also be helpful volunteer ambassadors at hand to provide information, directions, and advice to pedestrians and cyclists alike.

We know many of our residents and travelers bring their bikes with them as a way of enjoying the fantastic scenery around Victoria. And now, thanks to these new developments, it’s easier than ever to get around the city itself on them.

Customer Appreciation Day

On Saturday September 7, we will be holding our Annual Customer Appreciation Day, from about noon to 6-7pm. There will be live music (a jazz band, Irish folk band, etc.), the Songhees food truck, and the Esquimalt and Songhees dance groups will be coming to perform. Everyone in the park is welcome, and local residents can come as well even if they don't have a site booked.
