Victoria Beer Week

March 4 - 12

Victoria has a reputation as being a hub of excellent craft beer brewing, as well as a place where people appreciate the finer side of brewing, as evidenced by the local ‘ale trail’ and a fine collection of bars and breweries.

And no event celebrates this tradition better than the annual Victoria Beer Week, a nine-day festival that showcases the best of the BC craft brewery scene, over the course of a range of fantastic events hosted in locations throughout Victoria. The upcoming event in 2022 is set to be one of the best and biggest yet, with over 50 BC craft breweries on tap across the chosen venues.

Oak Bay Half Marathon

May 29

And now for a change of pace—the Oak Bay half marathon is once again set to take place, and what a great chance to get in shape, and enjoy a scenic run amongst some of Victoria’s most attractive streets and locales.

The full half marathon begins at Windsor Park, and takes in historic Oak Bay, as well as the sea views of Beach Dr. And if you don’t feel like taking on the full half marathon, there’s a relay option with legs ranging from 5 to 5.6km. Or, at the same time, there is the shorter 10k course which goes as far as Newport & Beach before looping back. Finally, for participants under 14, there is the Dairyland 1k race.

Once you’re done, you’ll be able to join in the post-race festivities with your other competitors, for a spot of well-earned relaxation and enjoyment!

After the success of last year’s online event, the Victoria Highland Games & Celtic Festival is hoping to return to Topaz Park in May with an in-person event, showcasing all the traditional favourites as well as a new Saturday evening performance and celebration!

The festival spotlights Scottish and Celtic traditions, including games, dance, music, and food. Highlights include a spectacular mass pope band performance, with up to 500 pipers and drummers participating, as well as individual performances, filling the space with the sounds of Scotland!

Spectators can also be entertained by the traditional Highland games, including the famous “tossing of the caper”. There will also be food stands, traditional Celtic music, and highland dance.
