With one of the most mild climates in Canada, even Victoria's "chilly" winter months have plenty of outdoor and indoor activities for all ages to take part in. Here we've collected a list of some of the most popular places and events in the city for you to explore during the winter — let us know which ones are your favourites!
Autumn has just started to set in, but it's already time for rig owners to start thinking about Christmas in Victoria BC. The city's mild weather, lack of snow and ice, and festive celebrations makes it a popular destination for the holiday season, and RV parks sell out fast — we're already starting to see December bookings.
If you're considering a Christmas RV booking of your own, we've collected some of the upcoming Victoria holiday events you can look forward to, including parades, markets, concerts, movies and tours. When November rolls around, don't forget to pop into local coffee shops and restaurants as well and ask about their Christmas specials.
When planning an RV trip, the first thought that comes to most rig owners' minds is "summer". Vacation days, warm weather and sunshine come together for prime RVing opportunities.
Which leaves the next greatest RVing season sadly overlooked: Fall.
We love fall here at Salish Seaside, and we want our fellow RVers to love it too. So here are our tips on how to have a great caravan adventure in BC during the autumn months.
When you hear the words “fishing charter”, the first thought that comes to mind isn't usually children. Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles looking for kid-friendly activities worry about long trips, rough waters, sharp hooks, adult-sized gear, and whether kids can even handle a large fish in the first place.
But you might be surprised — it turns out kids of all ages can enjoy a fishing charter. All that's needed are a few special preparations, and some minor adjustments to your game plan. You can give those your budding anglers the trip of a lifetime while getting them hooked on a sport that's healthy, educational, and fun.
Summer months and holidays are some of the best times to visit family and friends, especially on Vancouver Island! And when it comes to accommodations, many family members know that motorhomes are the way to go. Bringing an RV and reserving a space in a park keeps your amenities, belongings, and personalized space with you. It also means no hotel fees, no parking in driveways or along curbs, no sleeping on couches or guest beds, and no sharing groceries — or bathrooms.
But one question we often get is: How do you get a motorhome to Victoria, which is on an island? It's easier than you think, whether you're coming from the BC mainland or the United States.
While it might not have the most restaurants per capita in Canada (that one goes to Montreal), Greater Victoria may very well be second — or the very least in the top five. Visitors and locals alike can experience tastes from around the world in a variety of forms, all in one picturesque city: Food trucks, patisseries, floating restaurants, high tea, farmers markets, bubble tea bars, dining and drink festivals, and even Canada's very first brewpub.
Covering every local culinary treasure is impossible, but there are a few staples that are always worth mentioning. Read on for our list of Greater Victoria's best food markets, dining festivals, and restaurant events:
Voted second best small city in the world by the magazine Conde Nast in 2017, Victoria is a world-class destination for travellers. Splendorous raw beauty abounds in the sparkling oceans, blissful beaches, lush meadows, tall trees, and magnificent parks. Our city boasts renowned museums, galleries, and architecture. Just imagine being in the epicentre of all this magic while you enjoy a stay in our new state-of-the-art RV park. The rapturous experience of all things Victoria would not be complete without the ultimate adventure: salmon fishing.
Situated on Esquimalt's sun-drenched waterfront, we are the perfect location to offer you easy and convenient access to salmon fishing. We want you to experience the joys of Island living, including our love affair with salmon and other seafood.
The Greater Victoria area boasts some of the finest golfing around, and conditions allow enthusiastic golfers access year round. Whether you want to stay close in and do a casual nine holes, try something new for the whole family, or make golf the main theme of your stay, a multitude of options awaits.
Here at Salish Seaside RV Haven we are very excited at how quickly the final touches on the site are drawing together in the wake of our upcoming Grand Opening! The event will be limited to guests of the RV park, and we expect plenty of great food and dancing. (We do have a few unbooked sites left, so if you aren't currently a guest at Salish Seaside RV Haven and you would like to attend the ceremony, get your booking in before April 21st!)
The fun doesn't stop there! Once the Grand Opening Ceremony is over, we'd like to invite you to take the chance to formally explore some of the best Esquimalt BC has to offer. Take a look at some of the most fascinating spots for you to explore:
Well, it looks like we're finally on the home stretch! The siding is almost finished and what a difference, it looks great (thanks to Sawyer Custom Carpentry)! Next for the exterior is to finish various small details, downspouts, etc. The upstairs is coming along slowly but surely. The patio slabs have been laid for both balconies, and the glass contractors should be installing the glass railings in the next week or two. I can’t wait to sit out there with a cold beer watching the world go by — after work, obviously. We also had our fabulous landscape designer in this week figuring out what beautiful (deer-proof) indigenous plants and flowers to place around the base of the welcoming poles.
All in all, we're well on our way to being in fantastic shape for the upcoming peak season. In fact, we're already taking pad bookings for the spring and summer, so if you were eyeing a lot now is the time to grab it! To offer some extra incentive, we've collected a peek of what you can expect to find during the refreshing days of May in Victoria:
