Officially open for business!

Est. reading time 1 minute

It’s been a busy few weeks! I want to start by thanking all our wonderful guests to date, it’s been fantastic getting to know some of you and putting faces to the many names! The main amenities building is slowly coming along and we’re looking at a mid November completion date (for the downstairs). Thank you all for your patience with this beast. As you would expect, it has gone way over time and budget! The lamp-posts are in and Wi-Fi will be going up and functioning by this time next week.

As of today the concrete pads are all poured, pedestals are in, services to each pad are complete. BC Hydro have finally agreed to hook us up to mains power on Tuesday next week! The stone sitting wall is constructed around the perimeter and it looks fantastic! There are lots of little jobs, signs, lamp-posts, security cameras and Wi-Fi to get hooked up but this week will mark the end of the major construction activities.

The project is coming along nicely and completion is set for September 2017. The first 14 pads are poured. We tested the pads with a 45'Class A single axle motor coach and jacked it up on the pads. All went well. The second story is going on the amenity building. We should have the ground floor washrooms shower and laundry done by Sept 1 but the meeting room upstairs may not be finished. The office/store is ready for drywall with all construction and electrical in. Phone lines and internet should be in by month end. It's going to look fabulous!

As of today all the major services are installed, both mains and to individual pads: sewer, water, gas. Electrical and communications conduit are going in next. The foundation for the amenity building is ready to pour concrete and then the framing can start. The sewer lift station will be delivered on Tuesday. Although a tremendous amount of work has been done, looking at the site there's little to show for it just because it's all underground. C'est la vie.

The old Westbay has been completely razed and the two First Nations are starting from scratch to rebuild it. We are reducing the number of pads to 36, they are now truly big rig friendly, building a brand new amenity building with upstairs meeting room with decks and fireplace, supplying 50 amp service, and best of all the wifi is going to work...
